Mormon Row

by Pat on September 13, 2010

I saw this shot in my head from 2,300 miles away. This is the shot I had in mind when setting up my travel plans to go to Wyoming. The famous T.A. Moulton barn on Mormon Row in between Jackson and Moose, Wyoming. When we started our week in Yellowstone, it was tough waiting all week to get to Jackson Hole so I could get this shot. I was like a little kid who was waiting for a package to come in the mail. You know it’s coming, but you still can’t wait for it! :) After our stay in Yellowstone was done, we moved into Jackson Hole to continue our vacation there. I had tried to get some HDR brackets with the sky’s changing colors but ran into some difficulty since the sun was setting directly in camera front. I did get some pretty cool blue hour HDR shots, but this one above was the best of the group. I’ll share a blue hour photo in the near future.

I know this barn has been photographed numerous times, but it’s something special to be able to capture your own version. Thanks for checking it out!

Happy New Year! A new contest!

by Pat on January 1, 2010

Happy New Year! I’m going to start 2010 off with a small contest. The rules are below – it’s really simple, just follow me on Twitter, and then retweet the phrase below to enter the contest. The winner will be picked at random and they’ll have the opportunity to win an 8×10 print from any image in my Portfolio gallery at www.obrienstudios.com.

Thanks everyone, the contest is now over! Please follow me on Twitter for future contests!

Today’s picture is from Vermont taken during this past foliage season. We usually do annual road trips to Vermont to do some leaf peeping. So while we were driving around the back roads on our 2009 road trip we came across this barn. This one snuck up on us from behind some trees, so once I saw it we pulled over and ended up having to reverse down the road! Good thing Vermont’s back roads hardly have any traffic on them!
